How do you use the “Full/Half” setting of the SERVO-DRIVE unit?
Have you ever noticed short pull-outs (NL 270–300) opening with too much force when you are assembling kitchens fitted with SERVO-DRIVE? If ‘yes’, read on to find out how to reduce the force generated by the SERVO-DRIVE unit. If the drawer runner is shorter than 350 mm, you can adjust the unit to reduce the stroke movement to just half. This setting is marked ‘half’ on the unit.
Incidentally, it does not matter whether you are using a box system or a runner system, as the SERVO-DRIVE unit can be used with all drawer systems.
You can now make your adjustment to the SERVO-DRIVE unit: First, unhinge the pull-out. You will now have access to the SERVO-DRIVE unit behind the pull-out. You will find two selector switches on this unit. The selector switch Power is marked with ‘Full’/‘Half’.
The SERVO-DRIVE unit’s factory setting is ‘Full’.
- If the drawer opens with too much force, because the runner length is less than 350 mm, simply set the selector switch to ‘Half’ using your finger. As a result, the unit reduces the stroke used to open the drawer.
- The pull-out may not open even with a runner length of more than 350 mm and with the lever already set to ‘Half’. In this case, set the selector switch to ‘Full’.
Our SERVO-DRIVE units generally open pull-outs with a total weight of up to 70 kg.
I have Blue otion on all of my kitchen drawers but they are not troublefree. Big issue with one which opens on its own even an hour after use when there is noone in the room. How can this be adjusted?

I am having the same problem as Shelia. ( I am in the United States.) I have two Servo-Drive units and one has started opening on its own. Sometimes it kicks out the drawer immediately after it is closed. Other times the Servo-Drive opens the drawer for no apparent reason. I have even heard the Servo-Drive unit activate when the drawer is already pulled out.
The problem has been getting worse over time. Is there a way to adjust the unit to prevent these phantom drawer openings?

In that case it will be necessary to find out if the installation of SERVO-DRIVE has been made properly, or if there is a general malfunction of the SERVO-DRIVE unit.

SERVO-DRIVE is an electrical opening support system which requires accurate measurements of the screw-in positions, cutting dimensions and positioning of all SERVO-DRIVE relevant parts, as well as the positioning of the runner profiles, etc.
It is also possible that a faulty assembled SERVO-DRIVE cabinet works fine for some time and then suddenly develops a bad trigger behavior.
Accordingly, as there is no general way to address this issue and we always connect customers to our customer service who will solve the issue step-by-step.

I’m in Finland. Same problem. Servo throws the drawer open after closing nearly every time, and then does it repeatedly. Strength is switched to half, switched it to full, no change, only the drawer was thrown open further and faster.
Most annoying thing to deal with. And to be honest embarrassing when we have friends and family over. I just tell everybody the brand BLUM, when it happens.

To answer your request: We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem with our SERVO-DRIVE motion technology. There could be different reasons for your problem. The two main reasons are either a broken SERVO-DRIVE unit (that needs to be replaced) or a wrong mounting position of the unit. We need to find out what your problem is exactly. The easiest and quickest way is that our customer service in Finland will contact you and stop by. In case your SERVO-DRIVE unit needs to be replaced and is within the 5 years guarantee, our customer service will replace it for you.
I live in California, USA, I also have the same problem on trash bin cabinet door. We’ve had the unit for several years, and did not have any problems. For the past several months, when you push on the cabinet door, the door opens and immediately closes. You have to pull the cabinet open for it to open, then it sounds like it is trying to push the door open several times, even though it is already open. It also opens randomly when no one is around, and most mornings, I find it open. Please help.

Do you hear the SERVO-DRIVE unit working when you press the button to open your cupboards and do you use an opening angle restrictor with you AVENTOS HF?
When you use an opening angle restrictor, please remove it and open the cupboard completely. The slider on the SERVO-DRIVE unit should be on the right position, in your case HF. Next reassemble the SERVO-DRIVE.

We are also having trouble with just one servo drive out of twelve units, wife ready to attack it with a sledge hammer, have contacted Blum Australia but they have not been very helpful, will only have a look at the unit if the cabinet maker comes out first. He is extremely busy and lives some distance from us and we do NOT see why he has to be there when the problem is the servo drive. We feel we are being fobbed off.

I have the same problem that everyone else described. The servo drive opens the drawer on its own, usually these phantom openings happen shortly after a previous opening, and occasionally at a random time. The servo drive was working fine for a few years and there have been no changes to the drawer. So I am sure this is a defect with the servo drive system that gets worse over time. My Blum Servo Drive has been working fine for 5+ years on my kitchen trash/recycle drawer. Recently it starting opening by itself after closing the drawer. I’m from Switzerland and my Blum servo drive open any itself ALL THE TIME. I already reduced the strength to half Androïd also set the openings to ‘single’ instead of ‘multiple’. It still opens ALL THE TIME and doesn’t stop.

I have a top mount servo drive operated waste bin drawer under my sink which is 3 years old. Recently it has become unresponsive to my knee bump, sometimes it will open but it doesnt work like it use to, and is very frustrating. we live in Denmark and have 17 units in our Kitchen. For some years different drawers have been opening on their own – really irritating. Normally it has stopped after a month or 2 and since it typically has been 1-2 drawers, we learned to live with it. Now we have 7 drawers doing it and we’re about to get crazy when we’re in the kitchen. It feels like a joke and if we don’t find a solution now, we’ll have to take all drivers out and put manual handles on the drawers. The sensitivity of 2 drawers is much to low.
When we close the door to the dishwasher the 2 drawers next to the dishwasher activate the servo-drive moters and they pop open.

I/2 power on servo unit opens drawer with full power. I don’t understand purpose of “synch” cable. Why are only 2 lengths available? I’m trying to open a drawer within a drawer front 1/2 way. I have other questions, bur let’s start with these. Thanks.

the “Half” feature on the SERVO-DRIVE motor is designed to reduce the power especially for shorter nominal lengths. Accordingly, if you have a drawer of a short nominal length such as 400mm, it is still possible that the motor fully opens the drawer.
The synchronisation cable is there for special applications, such as synchronising 2 motors which are not positioned on the same carrier profile (e.g. if you have a very wide front and two separate drawers next to each other behind it). For standard applications, usually the “Multiple” feature is used to trigger multiple SERVO-DRIVE motos located on the same carrier profile. There the communication is conducted via communication cable – the 2nd cable on the carrier profile which is not connected to the power supply.

there are many factors that influence the exertion of SERVO-DRIVE. The drawer load, the nominal length of the runner, the angle in which the runners are built in (which is not always 100% the same for each and every draver), and also tolerances in the motors themselves make it difficult to guarantee an exactly calculated exertion travel.

Hello,
During the last 6-8 months, or maybe even one year, after I close one of the drawers equipped with Servo Drive, it keeps on repeatedly opening each time after I close it. This repeats for up to10 times until it “calms down”.
Is there any adjustment (maybe sensitivity or so) in order to get rid of this annoying effect?
By the way, another drawer, located next to this one, doesn’t exhibit this problem.

I have an issue with the servo drive for my slide out bin ,it has worked fine for several years but now the arm is stuck out stopping the draw from closing Can it be reset or do you think it may have failed,it also had a flashing orange light so I turned power of and back on the light stayed on but no difference.

I have a six drawer servo drive system and all but one now randomly. It is extremely annoying and I am looking for an answer!. My granddaughter got pasted by a random opening and her mother the lawyer was not pleased!

I have the same problem. I have the servo drive on my bin drawer. It worked perfectly for 3 years and now opens randomly and especially when I walk past. I had the cabinet maker back to adjust it but it hasn’t helped. I also am ready to hit it with a sledge hammer! Australian , NSW.

These are great units when they work but mine started failing and there appears to be no sensitivity adjustment. The servo activates and opens the trash bin and then may activity several more times while the bin is open. When closing the bin it may stay closed or it may wait from a second to several minutes before opening again. It also opens on its own for no apparent reason. Customer service is useless.

I too have a recycling/trash that now randomly pops open, it is rather dangerous because my kids run around the island and sometimes it just pops out in front of them. It worked for 3 years and then started having these false opens. It. was professionally installed and built into our cabinets by a local millworker that built our cabinets. Has ANYONE come up with a fix for this? Ours has been working flawlessly for 5 years and then suddenly started ghost opening. We are not looking for a typical customer service response (you need to replace it). We are looking for an adjustment, hack, kludge, work-around, or something else to make it work the way that it used to without replacing it.
And, yes, it was professionally installed in 2015 and had no problems until 2020. So, don’t ask.

Hi Rick,
there are various possible reasons for malfunctions.
One is that the gap between the back of the drawer and the drive unit is too large. So Either the drive unit is installed too far back (unlikely as it has been working well for a long time), or the drawer isn’t closing all the way like it used to. This can be caused by debris in the runners or something else causing the runners to bind or the drawer not be able to close all the way. Also the drawer closing veeeeery slowly due to debris or binding would result in the same issue.
A different reason could be strong vibrations in the area, strong enough to move the drawer slightly forward or backward. If the cabinet isn’t mounted to the wall or parts that hold the drive unit in the cabinet aren’t secure, it could activate the SERVO-DRIVE by itself if someone passes by the cabinet, for example.
And one more reason could be, of course, that the drive unit is failing because water got inside the unit, or that some electronic part started malfunctioning.
It is not always easy for end users to troubleshoot such issues and this is why we usually direct them to our customer service. My colleagues will get in touch directly, and guide the customer through all the troubleshooting steps. Accordingly, I have forwarded your request to our office in the US and they’ll get in touch asap.

I have same issue as others. The drawers with servo drive (type: Z10A3000.02) randomly opens due to minor vibrations or totally on their own. Kitchen was installed by professionals in 2015. Issue have been increasingly occurring with more and more drawers the throughout 2020. No problems prior to this.

Hi guys,
I have had several years of very good use of the system on my trash bin. Lately it is being extremely sensitive and will open when completing an extremely soft close cycle – which was not normal for this system. Previously if pieces of paper were in the way it would not work properly, but there is nothing blocking the system now.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Unfortunately I am facing the same problem. Issue clearly develops with usage. I have 10 drawers fitted with the servo drive and the most frequently used one started to show issues after 4 years. Adjusting the drawers has helped a little bit (increasing distance from the servos) but now means drawers dont always open anymore. I bought my kitchen in the Netherlands but had it installed in Belgium.
